Implementing food-waste recycling and waste-reduction education across estates, schools, universities, and commercial buildings, preparing for municipal solid-waste charging.
The Waste Reduction Programme is an ECF-funded waste-charging education initiative operating since 2019 across estates, schools, universities, kindergartens, and commercial buildings. Through workshops, seminars, and hands-on demonstrations, the programme teaches participants how to properly sort food waste and reduce waste generation, preparing for Hong Kong's upcoming municipal solid-waste charging scheme.
As of 2023, the programme has covered over 20 venues, including Ocean Shores, Corporate Square, Harbourview properties, and Nan Fung Plaza, educating tens of thousands of people.
