Community Surplus-Food & Food-Waste Transfer Station

Funded by the Hong Kong Recycling Fund, the Kwai Tsing Recycling Centre operates a surplus-food and food-waste transfer station in Kwai Tsing. The 1,000+ sq ft site is equipped with custom-designed food-waste sorting tables where staff safely separate and process recovered food in a clean, hygienic environment. Edible surplus is cooked into hot meals or redistributed to people in need; non-edible food waste is transported to O·PARK 1 (Siu Ho Wan Organic Resources Recovery Centre) and converted into renewable energy and organic soil conditioner.
