Supported by a government grant, Food For Good plans and operates Tsuen Fook Kui — a transitional housing project that provides grass-roots and low-income families on the public housing waiting list with a decent, livable transitional home, improving their living conditions.\n\nLocated on the site of the former Luen Yan Street cooked food bazaar in Tsuen Wan, the project is funded by the Transport and Housing Bureau’s (now Housing Bureau) “Funding Scheme to Support Transitional Housing Project by Non-government Organisations.” Construction began in May 2022, was completed in May 2023, and the first residents moved in from June 2023. Tsuen Fook Kui provides 196 units (one- to five-person and accessible units) and can accommodate approximately 400 residents; each unit is self-contained with its own bathroom, shower, and kitchenette.\n\nThe design concept is grounded in green living — environmental considerations are woven into both the architecture and the facilities, with natural ventilation, daylight, and more generous spatial provision creating comfortable homes. The estate houses a food-waste composting system and a community garden where residents grow organic vegetables, putting the “table-to-table” zero-waste approach into practice.
